Our Story

Loaves by Madame Baker is the brainchild of Ciska Rossouw, a chef and baker that grew up and studied in the Winelands. She fell in love with baking through the hands of her grandmother and her amazing Mosbolletjies. Ouma Kleintjie taught her the patience needed when it comes to the art of baking and it is through her that she inherited her unwavering passion and dedication to produce the best quality product possible, regardless of what it is. Forward a few years and Loaves by Madame Baker is the expression of her obsession when it comes to amazing breads, a beautiful cup of coffee and everything mouth watering when it comes to food. Rustic perfection. The company was founded in 2015 and opened the doors(Loaves on Long) to the public in April that year in the centre of Long street. In 2018 we packed our ovens and loaded the flour bags and made our way to the heart of Salt River. It is here that we found our home. A quaint little shop with a beautiful wooden deck and a view overlooking Table Mountain. A coffee shop, restaurant and bakery that strive to fill you with all the goodness you need in your life. We supply other restaurants throughout the Mother City with many breads and pastries to spread the love and goodness far and wide and we also present baking classes to turn you into a master baker within your own home.
